7 Luxe Resorts with Stand-Out Kids’ Clubs

When it comes to a restorative getaway, a beachfront vacation is the gold standard. Unless, that is, you’re traveling with kids, when it can mean less R&R and more of the usual hustle and bustle that goes with parenting. But as the demand for luxury family travel continues to grow, some resorts are helping the whole family enjoy a true vacation with expanded offerings like specialized itineraries, more spacious family suites, and kids’ clubs.

To really unwind on a beach trip, Alexis Rich Chami, travel advisor and founder of Palomar Travel, recommends properties with kids’ clubs for her family clients. Inside these dedicated spaces, kids can meet fellow tiny travelers and partake in experiences that are both fun and educational. “This gives parents the freedom to enjoy some downtime,” she says, “or book an adults-only activity while children are having their own adventures.”

Set amid lush greenery, overlooking the Indian Ocean on the southern tip of the island, the new Umana Bali is a magnet for honeymooners and those seeking a romantic getaway. But Hilton’s first LXR property in Southeast Asia is also supremely family friendly, with spacious villa accommodations, complimentary meals for children under six, and a fun-filled kids’ club. Centered around a massive hot air balloon play structure, the sunlit space has a dedicated nap room, plus activities like Balinese dance and language lessons, and Gebogan and Kwangen crafts to give the youngest guests a chance to learn about Indonesian culture.

Since the 1950s, sunseekers have been drawn to this beachfront resort for its breezy glamour and unparalleled Mediterranean views. In 2013, the property unveiled a kids’ club, where children from four to 14 have their own dedicated oasis within the resort. The sprawling collection of open air, terracotta-roofed structures is home to activities that range from perfume-making in the surrounding herb garden with the property’s head landscaper to cooking Andalusian-inspired recipes with the hotel’s Wellness Chef.

At Kona Village, an 81-acre Rosewood resort situated on the pristine Kona Coast of Hawai’i, guests of all ages can tap into the island spirit with activities like fishing for tilapia in the property’s ponds and starlit movie nights in the Moana family pool. The small set gets their own dedicated activities, too. While parents can take a break with a mai tai at the resort’s iconic Shipwreck Bar or explore Kahuwai Bay in an outrigger canoe, the Rosewood Explorers Keiki Club is open for kids five to 11, where they can feed the property’s ducks, paint coconut postcards, or make their own shave ice with fresh-squeezed juices and syrups.

The new Maxx Royal, which opened this past May on a beguiling stretch of Bodrum’s northern coast, has no shortage of diversions for adults— outposts of global restaurants like Spago and Caviar Kaspia; a partnership with Scorpios, the buzzy Mykonos transplant next door; a 62,000-square-foot wellness center with everything from a Turkish hammam to ozone therapy to a cryo bed—and while the grown-ups play, the sprawling Maxxi Land is standing by to entertain the little ones. The vast facility has a nap room, a movie theater, and separate areas for kids of different ages to dance, craft, and play video games, all in an unexpectedly chic space in soothing pastel tones.

To illuminate local culture, there’s also sessions on Vietnamese lantern making or origami.

In late 2023, The Ritz-Carlton, Naples unveiled its years-in-the-making expansion and renovation, and with it, a new Ritz Kids program. While parents can take advantage of the transformed 51,000-square-foot spa or camp out in a beachfront cabana, children ages five to 12 can dive a little deeper into the destination’s environment with the help of the resort’s resident naturalist. The programming, created in partnership with the Conservancy of Southwest Florida, is designed to educate young explorers on the surrounding ecosystem via immersive activities focused on themes like sea creatures or the shoreline. Beyond the new space, families can take part in guided seashell tours, or splash out in the Reservoir waterpark at The Ritz-Carlton Naples, Tiburón, just a few minutes from the property.
