Bobbi Brown shared the eyeliner she calls “seriously easy to use.”
The product is from her brand, Jones Road Beauty, and is called the Gel Liner.
The formula was a limited-edition release in the Bobbi Kit 4.0 in celebration of Jones Road’s fourth birthday, and it’s now available in four shades.
Bobbi Brown’s makeup tips run the gamut from her best face-transforming tips for women over 50, to the simple makeup tips for those with gray hair, she has fans covered. Now, the founder of Jones Road Beauty is sharing the product she uses to define eyes, Jones Road Beauty’s Gel Liner. She even says it’s “seriously easy to use.”

“Eye makeup can be really simple, but many people tend to overcomplicate it. An easy way to add definition to the eyes is with a liner, and gel liners work particularly well because it gives you time to edit your line before it sets in place. The formula is also water and transfer-resistant, so the liner lasts all day long,” Brown tells Prevention.
“For those with smaller or deep-set eyes, I highly recommend applying eyeliner close to your upper lashes and a softer line underneath,” she says.
The creamy potted liner in Brown was originally released in a limited-edition Bobbi Kit that sold out in two weeks, Brown explained. “The customer response was so positive that now we’re offering it in Black, Navy, and Violet to correspond with the shades of our best pencils,” she says. In a recent Instagram post, Brown noted that her “new favorite” hue is Violet. “Love the Navy on blue eyes and Black of course for evening,” Brown wrote.
You might assume that such a rich, pigmented formula would slip and slide on the skin, but according to Deputy Editor Emily Goldman who had the chance to try the formula, it really stays put. And Brown herself noted that it’s water and transfer-resistant. And she doesn’t use those words lightly. She said the liner is the first Jones Road Beauty product she and her team did claim testing on to ensure it lived up to its description. “I’m not into claim marketing but really wanted to test it for stay,” Brown wrote. “[It] stays on me until I take it off.”
The liner is also effortlessly applied with Jones Road’s angled Precision Eyeliner Brush: Simply dip, swipe, and you’re done. In sharing the launch, Brown explained a few different ways to wear it. “Start at the outside with just enough product so it glides on dark,” she wrote. “Follow your lash line to the inner corner with a less thick line. Open and see if it is as strong as you want it. Then decide to extend it if you want a cat eye or strategically add more to further open up the eye. I make my smaller eye a wee bit strong to have them match.”
Brown teased the Gel Liner release when the Bobbi Kit 4.0 containing it launched in October. “It’s really smooth to go on. You can double layer it over a powder, [or] over a pencil. This really makes the eyes stand out,” she said. Gel liner, in general, is something that Brown takes credit for bringing to the beauty industry.
“Those who know, know… it’s a reinvention of a product I accidentally created or invented decades ago,” she wrote, “which created a new category in the industry. Hope you guys love it as much as I do.”
While online reviews are scarce, as the product just launched, Goldman says it’s already a favorite of hers and her 68-year-old makeup-fiend mother, who sang it’s praises.
