5 Most Affordable Travel Destinations To Visit in February
Whether you’re craving Colorado’s snow-capped slopes or Florida’s sun-drenched beaches, the U.S. offers budget-friendly destinations perfect for a February escape.
“February starts to finish off the winter months and begin the spring season,” said Justin Crabbe, a travel expert at Jettly. “This means fewer tourists and lighter demands for hotels, flights and attractions. Traveling during the month of February generally saves the traveler 20 to 50%, compared to peak-season rates.”

Here are five most affordable travel destinations to visit in February. Also find out the cheapest states to visit this winter for a getaway.
Colorado
Abundant snowfall makes Colorado peak ski season in February, especially in resort towns such as Aspen, Vail, Breckenridge, and Telluride.
“For example, the International Snow Sculpting Competition in Breckenridge often runs during late January through early February,” said Tim Choate, CEO at RedAwning. “While lodging can be expensive, attending the event itself is free. Therefore, it frees extra funds for a cheap condo rental.”
Choate said many mountain towns around the margins of Colorado’s ski resorts adjust their prices dramatically as the holiday peak season fades and before spring break starts. Offering great value, some vacation accommodations in the smaller mountain towns could drop from $250 per night in late December to $150 or less in February.
Crabbe recommended Denver for travelers seeking an urban adventure. Hotel prices in Denver average $153 per night in February.
“It’s a great place for travelers looking to enjoy winter sports or a laid-back city escape when the demand is lower, and therefore, better priced,” the travel expert added.

Destin-Fort Walton Beach, Florida
An alternative to pricey and tourist-heavy destinations like Miami or Florida, Destin-Fort Walton Beach (DFWB) is an affordable coastal getaway for families and children eager to experience adventures on land and in the water.
According to information from the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Tourism Organization, the Beal House Fort Walton Beachfront Hotel offers stays under $200 a night, with prices starting at $103 during February 2025. DFWB also offers “Little Adventures,” a free program for children under 13 where they can grow confident and learn new skills such as snorkeling, surfing and fishing.
DFWB offers non-stop flights from many U.S. destinations, which Allegiant, American, Delta, Southwest, Sun Country, and Avelo serve. While in Destin-Fort Walton Beach, travelers can rent a car and explore the sites.
Nashville, Tennessee
Known as the “Music City,” Nashville is an affordable winter destination that offers plenty of fun attractions for under $50, like the Grand Ole Opry, the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Johnny Cash Museum.
“Whether you are interested in Nashville’s rich history or its vibrant entertainment opportunity, Music City has more to offer than initially meets the eye,” said Mercedes Zach, a travel agent at ASAP Tickets.
Zach said a one-week trip to Nashville for two people costs an average of $2,800, including accommodations, local transportation, dining and sightseeing.
“It can drop even lower during the winter months, which makes it one of the most budget-friendly domestic spots worth visiting in 2025,” Zach said.
New Orleans, Louisiana
The Mardi Gras season in New Orleans is in full swing in February, with the official day occurring on Mar. 4.
Early Mardi Gras revelers can watch the Krewe of Chewbacchus and Krewe du Vieux and, sci-fi and fantasy-themed, and adult-themed parades, scheduled for Feb. 1 and Feb. 15, respectively.
“New Orleans is the obvious pick for Mardi Gras with many of the parades and street events being free,” said Jesse Neugarten at Dollar Flight Club. “Flights drop under $150 roundtrip as the month progresses.”
San Antonio, Texas
San Antonio, Texas, is relatively inexpensive in February, Crabbe said.
Hotel prices average about $152 per night, which is about a 25% savings from peak spring break rates in San Antonio.
“Mosey on down to the Alamo or River Walk to enjoy Texas without overspending,” Crabbe said. “Smaller crowds and shorter lines are an added bonus with the off-season pricing in February.”
Crabbe said restaurants and stores along San Antonio’s famed River Walk offer specials to entice tourists during the slower season. Travelers can enjoy Tex-Mex dining for about $12 to $20. In addition, the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo offers affordable admission and live music. Tickets start at $10.
