A $45 Million Colorado Compound Overlooking Vail Valley Is Headed to Auction
Looking for a Rocky Mountain getaway with an almost endless number of things to do both in the great outdoors and in climate-controlled interiors? Then, this sprawling ski retreat in Colorado that’s headed to auction next month just might be the ticket.
Set on 56 acres in Vail Valley, the mountain compound in the town of Edwards will be going under the hammer on March 7 with Concierge Auctions, in partnership with Barbara Gardner and Malia Cox Nobrega of LIV Sotheby’s International Realty. Previously listed on the open market for $45 million, the picturesque property features two separate residences, a boatload of amenities, plus its own leisure and recreation venue dubbed Coyote Lodge. Outside, the grounds are complete with a trout-stocked pond, a turf field, a scenic hot tub, and miles of immaculately groomed trails.

“Casteel Creek is truly a private sanctuary in the Colorado mountains,” Gardener said in a press statement. “With its unique plethora of indoor and outdoor amenities, prime location within minutes of the internationally acclaimed ski resorts of Vail and Beaver Creek, and exclusive access to immaculate wilderness, it stands as a prized possession for its next fortunate owner.”
The main pad, located at 2400 Casteel Creek Road, is a multi-winged contemporary structure largely made of stone and wood and sports a Western theme. It includes a custom bar that was inspired by the Silver Dollar Saloon in the Wort Hotel in Jackson Hole. Elsewhere, the 30,350-square-foot abode is decked out with eight ensuite bedrooms, soaring high ceilings, and oversized windows that frame Finnegan’s Peak. There’s also an ice cream parlor, a fitness facility, and a spa. The main focus, however, is a 200-foot steel cantilevered viewing bridge that juts out over the forest and lets you spy on the Sawatch Range.
Nearby, at 1683 Castle Creek Road, a 3,276-square-foot guest cabin offers up an additional four bedrooms plus a ton of other perks, including a Western-themed garage complete with a sheriff’s office replica. The lucky bidder will also have access to Coyote Lodge, a vast, 28,000-square-foot entertainment complex that holds a shooting range, a 65-foot climbing wall, an indoor swimming pool, a teppanyaki kitchen, a golf simulator, and a pickleball court.
“This stunning mountain property, adjacent to over two million acres of National Forest Service land, is the perfect private family escape or ideal for a corporate retreat. Casteel Creek is an opportunity and experience unlike any other,” added Cox Nobrega. The no-reserve online auction is expecting bids between $15 million and $25 million and will conclude live on March 21 at Sotheby’s in New York.
