40 best loveseats for saving space or snuggling up
Romantic by name, functional by nature. A loveseat is smaller than a sofa but larger than an armchair, making it the ideal solution for small spaces or a practical accent piece for unused corners. Occasionally called a snuggler or indeed a cuddler, both an indication of its diminutive size that encourages occupants to curl up.
The popularity of the loveseat is a sign of the times, our homes and living spaces are shrinking, with the average property size in England measuring just 729 sq. ft (astonishingly, the smallest our homes have been since the 1930s.)
Some loveseats can fit two people – with the caveat that you are comfortable in each other's personal space – but they are usually more appropriate as a lounger for a single occupant. And a bit of advice for those who are looking to purchase, a loveseat is not the same as a compact two-seater sofa – both serve a similar function, but a loveseat is smaller.
One of the joys of a loveseat is that extra attention has been paid to design elements that promote comfort – you’ll usually find loveseats made from sumptuous fabrics like velvet, some have matching footstools to stretch out, or with lower armrests to encourage lounging…
Here we round up the 40 best loveseats to save yourself some space.
