If all you want for Christmas is more storage space then look no further. An unusual collection of lots are going under the virtual hammer at Paul Fosh Auctions. There are 39 garages for sale and an abandoned petrol station too.

The eye-popping total of 39 garages are on offer across three auction lots. Firstly there's a portfolio of 19 garages situated in the sought-after residential area of Allt-Yr-Yn in Newport with a guide price of £50,000.

They are well positioned to the rear of a number of blocks of residential flats in a convenient and accessible location with high demand for garage rentals in the area. Being sold with the freehold, the auction house states that all of the garages are currently tenanted and are achieving an annual income of £6,948 and that there is potential for future rent reviews or alternative uses, subject to achieving the necessary planning permissions.

Or perhaps you'd prefer a collection of 18 of the handy storage spaces in Beech Grove, Gurnos, Merthyr Tydfil, with an auction guide price of £75,000. This terrace of smart looking garages are newly completed and are described as high quality units.

According to the auction house, the garages are situated in a secure, gated development, offering a higher level of safety and security, plus there is easy accessibility to the site that is close to the A470 as well as the town centre. This set of garages is being sold with vacant possession and have an estimated potential of an annual income when fully let of £21,600, based on £100 per garage per month.

Then there is of course the option of bidding on a single domestic garage at Nash Grove, Newport, with a guide price of £4,000 that has an 'up and over' door and is part of a block of eleven accessed via private lane off a residential cul-de-sac.

Returning to Merthyr Tydfil, in the Pentrebach area is another single garage that is described as 'larger than average' and is situated in a residential location close to good road links to the town centre, going under the virtual hammer with a guide price of £6,500.

But if you’re in the market for an actual garage, in the form of a former petrol station that also comes with almost four acres of land, then the auction lot at Cemetery Road, Ogmore Vale, Bridgend, will intrigue you. With a guide price of £270,000, the abandoned petrol station and its land is located alongside the A4061 at Ogmore Vale, Bridgend, north of the M4 motorway which provides direct links to both Cardiff and Swansea.

The auction house states that the former garage site may have potential to be brought back into beneficial use as a petrol station along with a convenience store, subject to all necessary consents. The adjoining land, which is relatively level, could provide a residential development opportunity, again subject to all necessary consents, and any interested parties are advised to make their own enquiries with the local planning authority.

Sean Roper, of Newport-based Paul Fosh Auctions, said: "There’s seldom one of our property auctions when we don’t have at least one garage on offer but it seems this time we’ve outdone ourselves with almost forty available, albeit in four distinct lots.

"Garages or just a single garage, are ever popular and much sought after and, depending on a range of matters including condition and location, can achieve very satisfactory prices at auction. Garages can be a good investment as people these days have so much ‘stuff’ and seldom have enough storage space.

Sean continues: "People are willing to pay rent for the privilege of having more room to store things, such as maybe a classic car or excess furniture or things that ‘might come in handy one day’, by renting space on a short or long term basis."

The group of garage lots will be offered for sale online by Paul Fosh Auctions starting for 12 noon on Tuesday, December 10 and ending from 5pm on Thursday, December 12.
