A traditional Christmas dinner just wouldn't be the same without the addition of pigs in blankets. And this own-brand variety has just beaten 13 other products to the very important title of the best-tasting sausages wrapped in bacon.

Iceland's Luxury 10 Pigs in Blankets have come out top in an annual Christmas food and drink taste test carried out by Good Housekeeping. According to the judging panel, the "meaty, well-seasoned sausage is wrapped in crispy bacon with just the right amount of fat to give these pigs in blankets a delicious savoury saltiness." We're already drooling just thinking about them.

Along with their comforting aroma, the Iceland sausages were praised for their pleasing colour when cooked. Even better, they were one of the cheapest products tested at £3 a packet.

Aldi also fared well in the challenge, despite tough competition from rival brands. Two of its bacon-wrapped sausages featured in the runner-up list, with Aldi's Butcher's Select 12 Bacon Wrapped Sausages, priced at £1.99, and the Specially Selected 10 Sausages Wrapped in Bacon, £2.19, included in the top five.

The other runner-up titles went to Marks & Spencer's British Outdoor Bred Pigs in Blankets, £5, and the Co-Op's Irresistible Cocktail Sausages Wrapped in Bacon, £3.

The winning items were one of 316 festive food and drink products tested across 16 categories this year, including Prosecco, mince pies and Stilton. If you're already planning your Christmas feast, see a full round-up of this year’s winners here.
