21 Stylish Pieces Of Furniture To Make From Recycled Pallet Wood

Upcycling is all the rage at the moment. There’s something really rewarding about taking an old, unwanted shipping pallet or piece of reclaimed timber and transforming it into something really beautiful – and functional – for the space you have.

Plus, it’s usually virtually free – or at least much more affordable than taking a trip to Ikea.

Best of all, you don’t need to have an artistic streak or a flair for creativity; often transforming a plain old pallet into a piece of furniture is a case of dismantling it and reassembling it. Most likely, you just need inspiration to get you started.

Now if you’ll excuse us, we’ll be knees deep in our local supermarket’s skip trying to salvage a couple of pallets to turn into one of these beauts…

Day Bed
Perfect for vegging out on when hungover and gingerly sipping Lucozade.

Coffee Table
OK, those mini cupboards might be a little tricky to replicate, but you can definitely skip over those and make yourself a nice double-layered coffee table that will work as a great centre piece in your living room.

Bar
What’s not to love about this? We would just need a whole lot more alcohol on ours. Three wine bottles won’t last long.

Child’s Bed
Simply beautiful. What a difference a lick of white paint makes.

Dog Bed
Daisy seems to be a big fan of her very own pallet bed. And we love it too.

Cat Bed
And of course we can’t forget all the cats out there. They need a special space to hide in, too.

Corner Sofa
Ideal for a kids room or as a cosy reading nook, these sofas appear to be made from a couple of pallets stacked on top of each other – no hammering or nailing required.

Flower Wall
This will brighten up any garden, be it big or small, and rack up the likes on Instagram, too.

Breakfast Bar
You can even make a breakfast bar/dining table/drinks area from a couple of pallets. Starting to realise how savvy this upcycling business can be?

Barn
Imagine how cool it would be to throw parties in THIS. Doesn’t look all that waterproof though…

Fire Pit
We can just imagine toasting marshmallows on this. Proper rustic.

Potting Bench
If you’re lacking in the shed department, then this should be on your list of pallet-transforming projects.

Home Cinema
You don’t need to be a Hollywood star to have your own at-home cinema – just a room with space for a large-ish TV and some of these awesome pallet loungers.

Dining Table
Some people pay hundreds for pure wood tables like this one – you can make it free of charge with a couple of pallets or some reclaimed wood. And it doesn’t need to be as flawless as this; the more imperfect it is, the more rustic.

Bedside Table
Spend an afternoon knocking together a couple of these to give your bedroom a real French farmhouse appeal.

Cot
A baby’s cot doesn’t get much more angelic than this. Possibly not expert-approved, but oh-so-sweet nonetheless.

Lemonade Stand (Or Sweet Stand, Or Whatever Takes Your Child’s Fancy)
Your little one will love you for building this lemonade stand. We would have LOVED to have something like this in our garden when we were young.

Shed
You might want to wait until you’ve honed your pallet upcycling skills before attempting this, but it can’t be that hard… right?

Sliding Door
If you’re going for a farmhouse chic vibe, you need this sliding door in your life. Pronto.

Hanging Bed
We could wile away many a summer afternoon on this beauty. Talk about a garden essential.

Garden Bench
We love how kooky and A-symmetric this garden bench is. Throw some seat cushions on and voila!
