A dog-walker was left shocked as he was out strolling along the beach with his partner and two dogs - only to see a huge chunk of cliff face crumble away before his eyes.

Lee Chamberlain, 33, and his partner Luke Tappenden, 28, were enjoying a sunny walk along Naze beach, in Walton-on-the-Naze, Essex, with their dogs Jess and Mia.

The two pooches were happily running along the sand near the cliff edge - but Lee quickly had to call them back to him when he noticed a few rocks crumbling away.

And just minutes later, a few huge chunks of the cliff face fell away just feet from where the dogs had been playing - crumbling into shingle as they cascaded into a huge heap on the beach.

Lee, who walks his dogs on the beach regularly, said: "It was quite a shock.

"You do get quite a lot of cliff erosion down on the beach, but it's very rare to see it actually happening before your eyes.

"Just a few minutes before, I had actually said to my partner's father, wouldn't it be cool to see it happen?

"Then we could see a few bits that had obviously fallen recently, and it was a bit windy and I thought, 'That looks like it could go any minute'.

"I quickly got my camera out and then the next second it all started to crumble. It wasn't a huge amount, but it was enough to cause a shock."

Lee added: "I was a little bit nervous, because our dogs had just been near there.

"But as soon as we realised it looked a bit wobbly, we called them back over to us and put them on their leads.

"We had been walking quite close to the cliff - but we managed to get well back in time, so we were out of harm's way."

Lee said that he had shared the footage on Facebook to help anyone who might be studying the erosion along Naze beach.

He said: "Quite a lot of the cliff is coming away in places, and I know there's been a lot of concern about Naze Tower, which is just a bit further along from where we were.

"I thought I'd share it because it might help people who are looking into this."
