Airline admits where its cameras are
Cathay Pacific Airlines has admitted to using cameras on board flights and in other places - and is letting the public know what it does with the footage.
The airline says the personal data is stored on secured servers - but it admits that guaranteeing 100% privacy is difficult.
Regarding recent media reports, we would like to clarify that our inflight entertainment systems do not have any cameras, microphones or sensors to monitor passengers, nor have they in the past.

In line with standard practice and to protect our customers and staff, there are CCTV cameras installed in our airport lounges and onboard aircraft (one camera, positioned near the cockpit door) for security purposes. All images are handled sensitively with strict access controls

Last year, the personal info of more than nine million of its customers was leaked due to a data breach.
Cathay Pacific says the footage is recorded to improve the flying experience.
