World's saddest elephant dies, aged 47

An elephant often referred to as the saddest in the world had died at the age of 47.

Flavia had spent 43 of those years living alone in an enclosure and Spain's Cordova zoo.

Elephants are known to be very social and prefer to live in groups.

Animal rights activists had made numerous attempts to have her moved to an environment where she could interact with others , but none succeeded.
