Nasa probe in landmark space exploration

Space exploration history has been made by Nasa's New Horizons probe, which has been recording imagery from the furthest a spacecraft has ever been sent.

It reached the remote, icy world of Ultima Thule, further than Pluto and some four billion miles from Earth.

And staff at the space agency have been celebrating after learning that the probe survived its encounter with the heavenly body - and will continue its mission.
