Avril Lavigne is back with song inspired by Lyme disease battle
Avril Lavigne just released a brand new song after five years.
On the track, called Head Above Water, the singer recounts her battle with Lyme disease. The ballad includes a mix of piano, strings, synths and drums.
Lavigne sings: "God keep my head above water/ I lose my breath at the bottom/ Come rescue me, I'll be waiting/ I'm too young to fall asleep."
Rolling Stone reports Lavigne revealed that the song is about one night in which she thought she was dying.
