British Airways passengers complain of 'no food or loo roll'

A number of British Airways travellers have been complaining that the airline is running out of food and loo roll on flights.

A half-term holiday flight to Fuerteventura was delayed by two hours and then ran out of food during the four-hour flight.

One passenger, Tessa Evans Hurrell, told the Telegraph: "We went without food throughout the two-hour delay and four-hour flight. Six hours that covered both lunch and dinner time."

Others took to social media to complain.

The news comes just as another flight to Costa Rica on 5 March was delayed because the plane hadn't been cleaned, toilets weren't emptied, and then during the flight, loo roll ran out.

On the same day, BA passengers on a flight to Barbados were delayed for five hours over a shortage of loo roll.

British Airways scrapped complimentary food on short-flights this year, in favour of M&S food, which customers can buy at an extra cost.

Speaking to the Telegraph, a spokesperson said: "Customers are telling us that they really appreciate the choice and quality of the M&S range available, and they have already bought hundreds of thousands of items, including 39,000 bacon rolls and 14,000 bottles of prosecco since they were introduced in January.

"We regularly adjust stock levels on flights and have introduced contactless payment to help colleagues make faster transactions."

According to The Sun, addressing the loo roll shortages and delays on the Costa Rica flight, she said: "We are sorry customers were delayed after some of the many items needed for the flight weren't loaded on to the aircraft.

"We gave customers refreshment vouchers so they could get something to eat and drink in the terminal and we got them away on their holidays as soon as we could."
