Brain may still to be active after death, says study
Brain activity appears to continue in some cases after a person is declared dead, according to a new study.
Researchers from the University of Western Ontario in Canada assessed the brain and heart activity of four intensive care patients who were being taken off life support.

Three of the cases showed electrical signals in the brain stopped before the heart did.
However, the team noticed that for one patient the brain continued to show bursts of activity ten minutes after the heart had stopped.
The researchers wrote in the paper is difficult a positive physiological basis for this ECG activity.
They are urging more research to be carried out in this field.
