The new US $10 bill will feature its first female face when it is released in 2020, but which iconic woman should be immortalised in currency? Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush has a bright idea – why not adorn US currency with the Iron Lady herself, Maggie Thatcher?

Bush made the comment in a televised debate featuring himself against rivals Ben Carson, Mike Huckabee and Donald Trump, saying: "I would go with Ronald Reagan's partner, Margaret Thatcher," although he later added it was "probably illegal". Oops.

But that little setback hasn't stopped Twitter from going mad for the suggestion.

Naturally, there have been knock-ups of the Maggie money.

While Bush might be a Thatcher enthusiast, everyone else is just a bit confused.

Does Jeb realise she's not actually an American?

$10 notes could take on a whole new range of uses.

Others have taken the opportunity to express their continuing dislike for Margaret Thatcher the Milk Snatcher.

If there's one thing we know for sure, it's that Maggie T herself would definitely approve.
