Fancy a bit of Christmas shopping in the US but thought you couldn't afford it? Think again, because WOW Air has relaunched its £99 London to America fare.

The airline made transatlantic travel an option for more people when it launched its £99 ticket earlier in the year.

Now the special fare is back, and the one-way tickets are on sale today.

The only catch? You have to fly via Reykjavik.

The fares from London Gatwick to Boston and Washington DC via Reykjavik will be available on selected dates between 1 October to 15 December 2015, and 10 January to 10 March 2016.

A spokesman for the airline said: "The services to the United States via Reykjavik announced in October 2014 have been an enormous success for the airline with consistent average load factors in excess of 90%.

Skúli Mogensen, owner and CEO of WOW Air, told Aol Travel: "Modern travellers are smart travellers. They prefer to spend less money on airfares so that they can spend more on experiencing their destination.

"We are thrilled to be able to make transatlantic travel accessible for people who otherwise would not be able to afford it.

"We made a promise to keep offering low fares and these new £99 fares are proof of this."

The flights from Reykjavik to the USA are operated using WOW Air's fleet of new Airbus A321 Extended Range aircraft.

The airline's Airbus A320 family aircraft carry passengers from London Gatwick to Reykjavik on the first leg of the journey.
