Olympic rower James Cracknell and son save drowning pair on holiday
Olympic gold medallist rower James Cracknell and his 11-year-old son saved a grandfather and his grandson from drowning at a beach in Devon on Saturday.
The rower, 43, and his young son Croyde were hailed heroes after leaping into the water to save the pair while on holiday in Croyde.

According to the Daily Telegraph, James and his son were surfing when they spotted the pair in trouble.
James' wife Beverley Turner tweeted about the rescue, writing: "Last night @jamescracknell + 11 year old @croydecracknell rescued drowning grandfather + grandson on @CroydeBay. Terrifying + amazing.vproud.
"You never know how your kids will respond in a crisis..@croydecracknell was cool, quick thinking, kind and brave.
"And @jamescracknell was vomited upon by young boy! At least he was wearing a wet suit...
"I'm 7. I'm too young to die"...that's what the boy said as james got to him in the water...! lifeguards not on beach at that time.
"Everyone walked away, shaken but fine. The nearly-drowned grandad: 'that lad on that board saved my life' + 'bloody hell. It's the rower!'"
According to the Plymouth Herald, a rescue helicopter was tasked to the incident but stood down after the pair were pulled out of the water.
The grandfather and grandson were said to be "shaken up but safe".
