Video: Plane crashes into apartment building in Virginia

Two people were taken to hospital on Friday after a plane crashed into the living room of a third-storey apartment just outside of Washington.

The plane, heading to Manassas from Philadelphia, had to change course and travel towards Dulles because it became low on fuel, reports the BBC.

It crashed into the roof of the building in Herndon, Virginia, in the early hours of Friday morning.

According to the Guardian, the pilot and his passenger were taking photos from the aircraft before it crashed.

The pilot was reportedly taken to hospital with serious injuries, while 16 people and three dogs were evacuated from the building.

Back in May, two people died and a young boy miraculously escaped with his life after a private jet crashed into three homes in Indiana.

The plane came down near a regional airport in South Bend, according to Roland Herwig, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration.

Sky News reports that he said four people were on board the plane at the time, two of whom died in the crash.
