Video: Giant elephant seal holds up the traffic in Brazil

Traffic on a busy road in Brazil came to a standstill after an enormous elephant seal measuring nearly 9ft long appeared on a street, blocking the road for more than an hour.

Traffic in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarinawas halted as the seal, weighing an estimated half a tonne, took a stroll around town after waddling out of the sea and up the beach.

Eventually he returned to the ocean and normal life resumed.

At least he knew to use the pedestrian crossing...
