Passenger kicked off flight over 'saggy trousers'

A man was kicked off a Spirit Airlines flight after he became "abusive" when flight attendants asked him to pull up his saggy pants.

The airline's spokeswoman, Misty Pinson, told the Chicago Tribune that the man and woman he was travelling with became "verbally abusive", threatening physical harm to flight attendants when they asked him to pull up his trousers, which were "excessively low", hanging below his buttocks.

Officers were called to the scene and the pair were removed from the plane.

Ms Pinson added that Spirit's dress code requires that passengers wear "adequate" clothing, and if a customer displays disorderly or abusive behaviour they may be asked to deplane.

The couple were booked on the next available Spirit flight and continued their journey.

Back in June, a female passenger trying to board a Southwest Airlines flight to New York was told that she wouldn't be allowed to fly unless she covered up her cleavage.

The passenger, named only as Avital (she asked for her last name to be withheld), contacted the US website Jezebel about the embarrassing experience.

Avital claims she was told by Southwest Airlines that she was dressed "inappropriately" and asked to button up her shirt or stay behind.
