A three-year-old and his dad were kicked off an Alaska Airlines flight after the toddler refused to sit still and fasten his seat belt.

The flight was taxiing preparing to take off from Sea-Tax International airport when Mark Yanhcak and his son were kicked off the flight in what he calls an overreaction.

According to mynorthwest.com, he said: "He was crying, being cranky. I started putting him in his seat. I put his seatbelt on. But he was being cranky, trying to be close to me, so he wasn't fully fastened yet."

Yanchak's wife, who was sitting in first class with her mother and the couple's younger son, came back with a pacifier and some water to try and help the situation.

They were finally able to get the toddler to sit still but, by this point, the pilot had already ordered the plane back to the gate.

A crew member then asked the father and son to get off the plane "without explanation", says Yanchak.

A spokesman for the airline said they asked Mr Yanchak three or four times to strap his son in before making the decision to turn back. They called it a safety issue and said they would rather deal with it on the ground than mid-flight.

Mr Yanchak was offered space on a later flight but refused adding that he would not fly with the airline again.
