An entire family has been kicked off an Alaska Airlines plane after two children refused to stay in their seats and fasten their seatbelts.

The plane, which was flying from Long Beach, California, to Vancouver, Canada, made a diversion to Portland, Oregon, after the two children, aged three and eight, refused to stay seated.

The children and their two parents were met by police at the Portland International Airport and, according the Huffington Post, an Alaskan Airlines supervisor talked to the family about the need to comply with federal air regulations that children must remain fastened in their seats.

According to the Daily Mail, an Alaska Airlines spokeswoman Marianne Lindsey, said the supervisor then escorted the family to their connecting flight from Portland to Seattle to continue their journey.
