Video: Man steals woman's Rolex watch out of airport security tray

Turn your back for a minute and look what happens...

A man has been filmed brazenly stealing a woman's $6,500 (£4,100) Rolex watch after she accidentally left it in an airport security tray.

The audacious man's eyes light up when he spots the expensive item has been left on its own at the Transport Security Administration (TSA) check point at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

He looks around before picking up the watch and putting it in his bag with his laptop.

Detectives from Broward County said Gloria de Regalado, 43, forgot to pick up the timeless piece from the conveyor belt, according to the Daily Mail.

Gloria, from El Salvador, told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel that the watch was a gift from her husband to celebrate a number of life and relationship milestones, like their 10th anniversary and her 40th birthday.

Mrs de Regalado returned to the desk after half an hour to look for her watch, but it had not been returned.

The TSA contacted the Broward Country police immediately after seeing the act caught on camera, and the terminal was quickly searched, according to the Huffington Post.

Authorities also notified Dallas officials, who checked a flight that had recently departed for the city, but the suspect was not found.

There is now a $1,000 reward for his arrest.

This is not the first case of airport theft that has been reported this week; a female passenger, Rita Lamberg, had £100,000 of jewels stolen from her luggage after being 'forced' to check in her handbag on a US Airways flight.
