20 Virgo Zodiac Tattoo Ideas to Celebrate Your Sign This Season
Each of these pieces is as precise and detail-oriented as you are.
As we approach the best season of the year—Virgo season—you might be wondering how to celebrate it. Sure, you could be true to yourself by having a romantic night adjusting your five-year plan, stressing out about your sky-high expectations of others, and ensuring your bookshelf is properly categorized, but what if you took a page from an Aries’ book instead and did something impulsive? We suggest getting a Virgo zodiac tattoo as a reminder of who you are.

Lauren Alliece is an astrologer and the founder of Beyond Healing, which offers personalized readings and sign-based coaching.
Asami is a tattoo and nail artist at Atelier Eva in Brooklyn, New York. Her fineline tattoo work is influenced by her Japanese heritage.
“Each astrological sign has its own iconography and mythology, so tapping into their themes helps to highlight more of our unique personality—and our ultimate destiny,” says astrologer Lauren Alliece. “Getting a zodiac tattoo can help keep you inspired and engaged along your life path while nudging you towards your highest potential.”
Ahead, we curated 20 Virgo tattoo ideas that embody the mutable sign’s energy. “The Virgo constellation, feminine figures, and stalks of grain or harvest-related items are all associated with the Virgo sign and can translate beautifully to a tattoo,” Asami, a tattoo and nail artist in New York City, tells InStyle. Beyond precise, fine lines and intricate details, you’ll find everything from ornamental Virgo symbols to more abstract pieces featuring flowers, Greek myths, and more.
Dancing Goddess
As part of writing this story, I went out of my comfort zone and got a Virgo tattoo, and I let the artist design it without my oversight (talk about being out of character). “We chose a feminine figure as Virgos are historically depicted as major feminine deities or maidens,” says the artist Asami. “With that in mind, it correlates to the concept that Virgos are commonly associated with being resourceful and nurturing, which felt like a good fit to Sarah's character.” I personally appreciate that the maiden looks like she’s dancing. Though Virgos aren’t associated with spontaneity or “fun,” per se, I find that I’m a damn good time.
Birth Flower Bouquet
This fine-line tattoo features a small bouquet of florals, which Asami says can be customized to your star sign. For Virgos, "a botanical tattoo of wheat or other plants and fruits could symbolize this association with fertility and the harvest," she tells InStyle.
Girly Birthday Cake
With a style that can only be described as “brat,” Eve Graham’s Virgo Baby birthday cake tattoo is at once sexy and cutesy. Keep it a classic black and white or add a pop of color like red or pink.
Colorful Constellation
This tattoo design incorporates various Virgo symbols, like wheat and the earth, into each point on the sign’s constellation. “In ancient Egyptian mythology, the wheat harvest began as the Sun moved into Virgo, linking the archetype to this byproduct of Earthly progress,” says Alliece of the unconventional plant symbol. Little pops of color make this ink feel whimsical and easygoing.
Tarot Time
In the tarot, the only card representing the Virgo is The Hermit (as a Virgo…relatable), which suggests that you’re undergoing a time of introspection and soul-searching. The artist Kim Chau incorporated more Virgo elements into this custom tattoo, including the zodiac symbol.
Celestial Minimalism
Another twist on the classic Virgo constellation, this one was done with ultra-fine, dainty lines for a minimalist look. The artist added the crescent moon and Saturn to change it up.
Ornamental Zodiac Symbol
Artist Nikki Kotecha specializes in ornamental tattoos, which involve lots of smooth, flowing lines, spirals, and patterns. She brought this technique to the classic Virgo zodiac symbol, combining fine lines with floral motifs reminiscent of traditional mehndi tattoos.
Maiden Symbolism
This sheet of Virgo tattoo ideas was dreamed up by artist Ayala Bratt, who focuses on feminine, floral, and figure tattoos. The feminine form represents the “virgin” maiden. “Virgo’s key symbolism is that of the maiden, often depicted carrying a sheaf of wheat,” says Alliece. “The maiden is thus a reflection of Virgo’s purity, dedication to order, and need to serve others through their efforts.” There are also ideas for script-imbued artful takes on the zodiac symbol and the constellation.
Big Virgo Energy
The artist created this Virgo tattoo capsule, which incorporates the angel number 555 (which is said to mean good luck and transformation), the zodiac symbol, wheat, and a sprig of poppies, which Alliece notes is a flower associated with Virgos.
September Bouquet
“These specific flowers are the birth flowers of my client’s family members,” the artist Lily says of this design. The bouquet features chrysanthemum and buttercup flowers, both associated with Virgos. “The ruling flower for Virgo is the chrysanthemum, with its perfect symmetry amongst its many hundreds of petals,” says Alliece. “Virgos work extra hard to make everything look and feel perfectly in order, which is definitely the vibe this elegant and perfectly arranged flower radiates.”
The Moon and Me
The maiden makes another appearance in this elegant, celestial tattoo, where she’s intertwined with the crescent moon. Surrounding the moon is the classic Virgo constellation and an arc of chrysanthemums and morning glories, two September birth month flowers.
Single-Line Art
Studio Kintsugi in Boise specializes in intricate, thoughtful designs that lean into mythical and fantasy realms—without feeling too whimsical and cartoonish. This single-line representation of the virgin maiden with her sheath of wheat is a beautiful abstract tattoo option.
Cottagecore Cozy Wildlife
This tattoo artist assigned each sign a whimsical woodland creature, and we’d be remiss to ignore the connections between owls and Virgos. “Virgos are organized, detail-oriented, hard-working, and highly effective,” says Alliece. “They live for selfless service and strive for perfection across the board.” It makes sense that this cute tat depicts an owl poring over a stack of books.
Map of the Stars
This is a more detailed, astronomical take on the classic Virgo constellation, with the names of prominent stars written out in precise lettering. The dainty, detailed stars contrast nicely, and there’s a small Virgo zodiac symbol featured, too.
Pop of Poppy
A light, feathery flower like this one is a way to remind yourself of your sign without having an obvious Virgo tattoo. Not only is the poppy flower stunning, but it’s connected to your sign, too.
Discreet Virgo
If you want a Virgo tattoo that doesn’t scream, “Hey world, I’m a Virgo!” (after all, people can probably tell within a few minutes of talking to you), this is another abstract depiction of the maiden that’s not outwardly Virgo-esque. Artist Ash Aurich’s single-line female form tattoo feels fluid and free, while the thin line is sharp and precise.
Celestial Energy
Tattoo artist Elizabeth Forsman calls this “bottled Virgo celestial energy,” and we’d have to agree. It’s framed like a tarot card, and the unconventional font makes this a fun and playful tattoo. The mix of dark and light lines makes this design feel striking and graceful at the same time.
Literary Magic
This fine-line tattoo from artist Softboy depicts the intelligence, analysis, and curiosity of the Virgo. The book opens up with swirls of September birth flowers, stars, and planets crawling up the arm.
Goddess Energy
Framed like a broken window or vase with a bust of Demeter inside, this tattoo is as beautiful as it is significant. “In Greek and Roman mythology, Virgo is connected to Demeter, the Goddess of Harvest, as well as her daughter Persephone, whose dramatic journey into the Underworld is said to mark the turning of seasons,” says Alliece.
Simple Lettering
“Virgos are known for being meticulous and having a keen attention to detail, so any precise, clean-line lettering tattoos could represent these traits,” says Asami. You could pick a letter, your birth date, or the Virgo zodiac symbol in this pretty script style.
