Apple desserts rank high on my list of favorites. I grew up enjoying my grandmother’s apple cake, my mom’s baked cinnamon apples, and my aunt’s delicious apple pie. So you can imagine my excitement when I went to college and sampled my first apple dumpling.

It was served warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and it was the best dessert served on campus. My college days are long behind me, but thanks to Trader Joe’s, I can grab a box of Apple Blossoms and experience the same joy.

Trader Joe’s Apple Blossoms

Price: $2.49 for two single-serving blossoms

Why I Love It: These apple blossoms taste like a delightful mash-up of apple pie and apple crisp. They reheat nicely in the oven or air fryer and can easily pass as a homemade dessert.

What Are Trader Joe’s Apple Blossoms?

Apple Blossoms are nestled among the many delicious items in the Trader Joe's freezer aisle. They come in a two-pack box that, at less than $2.50, is an absolute steal. As an added bonus, each blossom comes individually wrapped, so if your “dessert party” is a table of one, you can save the other for another day.

Apple Blossoms are like “little apple pies, with the crust folded over to look like a blossom,” according to Trader Joe’s. “They’re made with Northern Spy apples which have the firm texture of a Granny Smith, and the sweetness of a Macintosh.”

After unwrapping and baking (they can also be microwaved or air-fried) at 350°F for 15 minutes, you’re treated to a dessert that’s so good, it could be mistaken for something homemade. To me, the blossoms are a delightful mash-up of a double-crust apple pie and a crumble-topped apple crisp. In other words, it’s all that’s right about apple desserts.

How I Enjoy Trader Joe’s Apple Blossoms

The obvious and classic choice for enjoying these apple blossoms is with scoops of vanilla ice cream. A dollop of whipped cream is also lovely, especially when paired with a drizzle of caramel sauce. I’ve also enjoyed the dessert served with just a splash of heavy cream. For an extra hit of flavor, I’ll sometimes add a sprinkle of sea salt and a dash of freshly grated cinnamon.

If you love apple desserts as much as I do and are craving something that tastes homemade, then Trader Joe’s Apple Blossoms are worth a try. Skip the microwave when heating, and instead bake or air-fry for best results.
