This $15 IKEA Hack Is One of the Smartest I’ve Ever Seen

IKEA’s best-selling furniture pieces may have inspired loyal followers and even their own Reddit threads, but in-the-know shoppers turn to the Swedish store for affordable organizing solutions. Case in point: A German TikToker is going viral for an ingenious product hack that basically creates extra storage within a storage unit — a game-changer for anyone with limited square footage who’s trying to use up any extra inch of space (like myself).

In her video, TikToker @Interior_By_Canik shows how she unzips a white fabric organizer to display four smaller rectangular boxes that are filled with impeccably folded bulky sweaters. The creator then takes each rectangular cubby out of the fabric organizer and places them into an open (and empty) dresser drawer. Because the white fabric organizer is the exact same shape and size as a drawer, all four of the rectangular boxes filled with sweaters fit perfectly, making it so easy to see all the neatly arranged knitwear whenever you open the dresser.

The result was incredibly satisfying, and several viewers took to the comment section to applaud the “ingenious hack,” with several saying it’s the perfect time to buy these organizers as the seasons transition from warm weather to a cooler fall and winter.

While the TikToker didn’t share exactly which IKEA products she used in the video, the gray cubbies appear to be the BAXNA Sortierbox, which come in both €2.99 and €4.99 options depending on the size, as well as the SKUBB white fabric organizer (€12.99).

Unfortunately, before you head to IKEA to swap out your summer swimsuits for cozy sweaters, keep in mind that not all of these products may be available if you’re shopping in the United States.

It appears that you can buy the same SKUBB storage case for $9.99 in American IKEA stores, but you’ll need to dupe the BAXNA design with the IKEA KOMPLEMENT, which costs $9.99 for a two-pack of the largest design. Like the cubbies that the TikToker used, these gray felt containers have a similar aesthetic and also fit into your drawers (although they’re slightly smaller).

Either way, the hack is super brilliant — and is key to unlocking seasonal wardrobes as well. If you take the time to buy the KOMPLEMENT organizers for your summer clothes, swapping out your warm-weather clothing for your sweaters, turtlenecks, and other cold-weather gear is as simple as moving boxes around. You can put your warm-weather clothes back up in your SKUBB storage case and push it all underneath your bed. Voila!
