What hairstyles can you do with claw clips?

The great thing about the claw clip is that the styling possiblities are pretty much endless.

'The easiest way to style your hair with claw clips is to do a half up, half up half down style. You can also create a messy bun or traditional claw clip wrap around,' explains stylist Annie Redman.

How to choose a claw clip?

'First, you need to choose the right claw clip for your hair type. To determine which type of claw clip you need, consider the length, thickness, and texture of your hair,' says Redman.

'The size of the clip also matters. A clip that’s too big won’t be able to hold your hair in place, while one that’s too small won't gather all of your hair.'

For long hair: Choose a clip with long teeth, so it's deft enough to gather all the hair.

For short hair: Choose a smaller clip with teeth placed tightly together or that overlap to grip fine hair, ensuring it stays gathered.

For thick hair: Opt for a curved clip that can handle weighty strands or one that opens wide enough to hold thick coils.

For curls: Look for a clip with smooth, rounded teeth that won’t snag or cause tangles in the hair.

Is the claw clip hairstyle good for your hair?

'Yes! says Redman. 'The claw clip is so much better than using hair bands on your hair and it t’s a great way to get your hair out the way without causing any damage or breakage.'

How to tie your hair with a claw clip?

'I find the easiest way is to gather your hair, twist it into a ponytail first, and then twist it upwards before wrapping the claw clip around the middle section, leaving the ends out,' says Redman. 'This looks on-trend and takes seconds to master.'

'If your hair is longer or thicker, you can also tie a ponytail with a hairband first, so it feels extra secure. Then, simply twist the ponytail down to create a bun-like shape, and place the claw clip just underneath so the ends face downwards instead,' she adds.
