Essential items for outdoor summer events

Before you head out the door, pack:

  • A collapsible wagon to easily transport children or other items.

  • Something to sit on, like folding chairs, foam stadium cushions or a picnic blanket.

  • Sun protection, such as sunscreen, an umbrella, hat or bandana.

  • Portable charger for your electronics.

  • Entertainment for kids, like bubbles, sidewalk chalk, glow sticks or other games.

  • Noise-reducing earphones or foam earplugs.

  • Cash for vendors, parking or bathrooms.

  • Wipes, tissues and hand sanitizer.

If your outing involves food, consider also bringing:

  • A folding table and a fitted tablecloth. The fitted edge of the tablecloth will prevent it from blowing off.

  • Food nets to keep bugs away from your food.

  • A cooler with water, other beverages and snacks.

  • A disposable, collapsible trash can.

Always check the event's website or social media pages to see what items are allowed on the premises.

When you're back home, consider storing these items together in your home or garage so that they're easy to grab the next time you're heading out on an adventure.
