11 loveable cats waiting for their forever homes in Wales right now
Charities across Wales have been working tirelessly to find forever homes for rescued animals. While there are rescue shelters that work on funding or grants to manage their expenses there are several which run solely on the goodwill and support of their communities and hard work from their volunteers.
Swansea Cats and Kittens is one of them. Founded by the former members of the now-defunct Swansea Cats Protection charity Swansea Cats and Kittens has also turned into a charity now and has rehomed 280 cats, feeds more than 40 feral cat colonies, and takes care of dozens of cats as of now.
It now needs your help to find homes for 11 of its furry feline friends. You can meet them below with descriptions from the charity.
Gracie
Gracie is a gentle, friendly, and sweet-natured young cat who would suit a quiet home, probably as the only pet in the household. Gracie is neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. Rescuers would love to see Gracie and her spotty tum stretched out on a sofa in her new forever home very soon. For the latest Swansea news sign up to our newsletter here.
Bubbles
Bubbles simply loves life and everyone and everything in it. She was born in a garden shed along with her siblings Nemo, Bruce, and Peach but you wouldn’t know that when you see her. She is definitely the leader of the pack and is always first to greet her fosterer with a squeaky meow.
Bubbles loves life and purrs at anything and anyone. Her rescuers would love to see her adopted with one of her siblings or her mum but she can be adopted separately. She’s a confident kitten and should be fine with welcoming resident cats and/or gentle, cat-friendly dogs.
Teddy
Teddy has been showered with love, affection, good food, and more love from the Swansea Cats and kittens volunteers. And he has returned this love back to them. He is a gentle, sweet-natured, and affectionate cat. Teddy was already neutered and chipped when he came into the charity’s care and had been loved and cared for by his owner.
He’s now vaccinated and ready to start a new life in a loving home. However the volunteers at Swansea Cats and Kittens are not sure how he would interact with other animals so they suggest he might be best as the only pet in the household. They say he's a gentle boy and should be fine with school-age children who are kind.
Minstrel and Sooty
Volunteers say they are all you’d expect in kittens: fun, fluff, and playfulness! The boys are best pals so volunteers want them to be housed together. They say Minstrel and Sooty are simply gorgeous and need homes where they’ll be adored. They add that these kittens have shared their foster home with a cat-friendly dog so should be fine joining a household with a welcoming canine.

Bronwen
Volunteers say Bronwen doesn’t know quite how stunning she is – her eyes are sapphire blue and her silky-soft fur is the colour of caramel swirl ice cream. She’s a sweet-natured, loving, and affectionate cat who is looking for a quiet, loving home where she’ll be adored. Bronwen can be homed to a family with older/teenage children who know to be gentle.
Cobweb and Mouse
Mouse was lucky to have her mum Cobweb by her side to keep her safe until help came along. Because they’re closely bonded volunteers would like them to be adopted together. Mouse now feels safe and secure and is beginning to find fun and joy in life again and loves to play and her mum Cobweb now loves to join in the games too – they’re delightful together.
Smooch
Smooch is sweet-natured, loving, and a dear little soul who loves fuss and affection and therefore volunteers feel she would make a lovely companion. She can be housed separately or along with her sister Cuddles – they get along well together.
Saturn and Venus
Saturn and Venus are gorgeous friendly, older tabby kittens who are ready to start their new adventures. Those interested in adopting the cats listed above can visit the charity’s website here or their Facebook page here.
When the previous charity Swansea Cats Protection closed volunteers didn’t want to give up. Fran Christie, trustee and treasurer of Swansea Cats and Kittens, said: “Our first thoughts were if we can help home a couple of cats over the next year it was better than nothing. We didn’t have a penny in the bank, no charity status, nowhere to board the cats, and no volunteers. All we knew was there is a massive requirement to provide help to the cats and kittens in need.”
She added: “We appealed to the local community who were absolutely amazing and within two weeks the community had raised over £10,000 to help us get the charity get started. We bought baskets, traps, food, litter etc. We were starting from scratch and had nothing. We will never be able to thank the local community enough for their belief in our volunteers and new charity.”
