The 10 Most Underrated ALDI Finds, According to an ALDI Expert

One of my favorite things about ALDI—and everyone else’s, for that matter—is the fact that you can always find the best foods at unbelievable prices. Where else can you pick up weeknight dinner staples, seasonal favorites, and even must-have kitchen tools for a fraction of what you’d pay at other retailers?

Don’t get me wrong, I love sauntering up to the butcher counter and asking for my custom-cut ribeye as much as the next person, but I’d much rather have more cold hard cash in my pocket than carry fleeting social cache any day.

What is ALDI’s secret sauce? Is it really the buzzy ALDI Finds or can’t-be-beat prices? Or is there more to the discount grocery haven we’ve been missing all along?

To find out, I reached out to an ALDI expert who spends even more time than I do browsing the aisles of the budget-friendly retailer looking for deals on everything from apples to za'atar. My quest for answers led me to self-proclaimed ALDI superfan @theamazingaldi, and as luck would have it, they’ve got the inside scoop on the 10 underrated ALDIi finds you need to try ASAP. Here’s what I found out.

1. Specialty Cheeses

Whether you’re in the market for garden-variety fare like cheddar and mozzarella or more exciting choices like Emporium Selection Everything Goats Milk Cheese, ALDI is truly a treasure trove of cheesy goodness.

2. Mini Rosemary Artisan Crackers

Of the grocer’s assortment of seasonal crackers, Specially Selected Mini Rosemary Artisan Crackers are the top choice. In my humble opinion, charcuterie boards live or die by their choice of crackers. What good is all that deliciously pungent fromage without the proper edible vehicle to enjoy it with anyway?

3. Specially Selected Greek and House Dressings

Salad dressing might seem like a one-off, but I’m sure you’ve had more than your fair share of flavorless salad dressings that you’ve spent more money on than you care to admit. @theamazingaldi is at the rescue again with their recommendation of Specially Selected Greek and House Dressings. Full of flavor and easy on the wallet.

4. Simply Nature Grass Fed Ground Beef

When it comes to high-quality meat, you might believe you’ve got to shell out wads of cash to get restaurant-worthy beef. But according to this resident ALDI expert, Simply Nature Grass Fed Ground Beef is the “best price you’ll find.” And at less than $6 a pound, I have to agree.

5. Special Selection Marinara Sauce

Fun fact about me: I could bathe in marinara sauce. Specifically, Rao’s and, of course, the ALDI aficionado found a swap for the sauce loved by home cooks everywhere. The answer? Special Selection Marinara Sauce. Some say it might even actually be Rao’s in disguise.

6. Simply Nature Thin Sliced Graintastic

I love a good dupe, and according to @theamazingaldi, the Simply Nature Thin Sliced Graintastic Bread is a near identical match for the food pro-loved, Daves Killer Bread. My sandwiches have never tasted better, and with all the cash I’m saving, I can splurge on fancy toppings. Who can complain about that?

7. Moser Roth Chocolate (Dark Chocolate with Almonds)

It’s no surprise that Moser Roth Chocolate made an appearance on the list, with the Dark Chocolate with Almonds variety being the ALDI fan's favorite. Personally, I’m more of a milk chocolate kind of guy myself, but I’ve never met a chocolate bar I didn’t like.

8. Mama Cozzi’s Take and Bake Pizzas

One of my favorite things about ALDI is their rotating selection of Mama Cozzi’s Take and Bake Pizzas. Much like the ALDI superfan, I can always find an excuse to stock the freezer with a few of these delicious dinner-time heroes. Make sure to keep your eye out for the Jalapeño Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza if you can find it!

9. Avocados

I’ve probably said this about a lot of things on this list, but I love avocados. They’re the perfect all-in-one snack and taste incredible slathered on toast—or Specially Selected Mini Rosemary Artisan Crackers. Best of all, according to @theamazingaldi, they’re “a steal compared to other places” at only 49 cents or less.

10. Casa Mamita Mexican Style Street Corn Flavored Big Dipper Corn Chips

Last but not least on the list is the Casa Mamita Mexican Style Street Corn flavored Big Dipper Corn Chips (talk about a mouthful.) Just like its name suggests, these delicious corn chips are big when it comes to flavor, and I can’t wait to dip them into my homemade guacamole—made with ALDI’s affordable avocados, obviously.

I don’t know about you, but I think it might be time for another trip to ALDI. At least this time I’ll be on the lookout for a few hidden gems, thanks to @theamazingaldi.
