The 2023 Academy Awards took place in Los Angeles last night, bringing with it plenty of excellent red-carpet style. The night saw the likes of Michelle Williams, Rooney Mara and Rihanna pull out all the stops with their custom couture, but the fabulous red-carpet fashion did not end there – there was also plenty to enjoy at the various afterparties.

Vanity Fair hosted its annual star-studded event, while Elton John also put on his AIDS Foundation's Academy Awards Viewing Party, as he does every year. While the fashion at the official ceremony is always the epitome of elegance, the dress code at the parties is a little more relaxed, meaning there is often more fun to be had.

This year saw Naomi Campbell in Schiaparelli couture, Daisy Edgar-Jones embracing a little naked dressing and Kerry Washington dipping into the Donna Karan archives.

Below, we round up our 12 favourite looks from the 2023 Oscars afterparties.

Naomi Campbell made an entrance in this cream sequin gown by Schiaparelli, which had appeared on the house's spring/summer 2023 couture catwalk. She teamed it with a chunky choker necklace, bangles and nude pumps.

Daisy Edgar-Jones embraced a bit of naked dressing for the Vanity Fair Oscar party, wearing a completely sheer, embellished dress by Gucci.

Loewe's Anthurium collection has been a real favourite with celebrities, and Adwoa Aboah is the latest star to wear it. The model looked impossibly chic in a slinky white dress with the floral detail around the bust, styling it with her hair up and minimal jewellery.

Yara Shahidi opted for a midi, but one which had just as much impact as a ballgown. The actress chose a bright red design by Bottega Veneta with three-dimensional floral detail, which she wore with matching elbow-length gloves.

Embracing a little gothic glamour for the evening was Sophie Turner, who wore a black caped dress by Louis Vuitton which was partly sheer, and featured a glitter finish.

Sienna Miller chose a floral Fendi design for the red carpet, which was completely backless. She styled it with statement earrings and silver accessories.

Julia Garner proved that sometimes, less is more when it comes to red-carpet style. The actress chose a clingy black dress with a round neckline by Off-White, which had been worn by Naomi Campbell on the catwalk just a few weeks ago.

Hailey Bieber and Saint Laurent are fast becoming one of our favourite red-carpet pairings. The model chose a black dress from the label, one which featured a glove on one hand, and a dramatic fluted sleeve on the other.

There have been plenty of great vintage moments this awards season, and Kerry Washington executed one of our favourites last night. The actress dipped into the Donna Karan archives for her look, choosing this nude, gathered gown.

Lily Aldridge made a case for leather on the red carpet, wearing this patent design by Balmain, which featured an off-centre neckline and gloves.

There is something so chic about a hooded gown, as Imaan Hammam proved last night in her clingy, black Saint Laurent design.

Although much of the afterparty fashion was made up of slinky dresses, there were a few ballgowns too. We particularly loved this black-and-nude design by Monique Lhuillier which Kate Bosworth was seen in.
