During the coronavirus lockdown, many used the extra time to learn a new hobby, to enjoy some much-needed downtime, or take a step back and re-evaluate - something which might have previously been unheard of within our usually busy lives.

Now, it's emerging that many have taken that self-evaluation a step further and are making changes in their careers post-pandemic.

AllBright, the professional women’s network, conducted a new study which found that women are emerging from the Covid-19 pandemic more resilient, with one in four now setting up their own business, and 61 per cent planning a complete career pivot.

The biggest growth sectors are ‘health and fitness’ and ‘publishing’ for new business owners; other popular sectors included ‘beauty’ and ‘finance’.

The exciting research shows that, despite these being challenging times, lockdown acted as a catalyst for positive change, with half of women feeling that the crisis provided them with new professional opportunities.

In support of this, AllBright is launching a special campaign throughout September which aims to inspire, energise and connect women together. ‘Making it Work’ features online training, content and in-club programming to help members build confidence, resilience and make the return to the workplace easier.

Anna Jones, co-founder of AllBright, explained in a statement: “There’s no question about it – Covid-19 has had an adverse impact on women and created challenging circumstances for many of our members."

“Defying negative headlines, it’s incredible to see the crisis act as a catalyst for positive change with so many women making moves to set up their own businesses, pivoting their careers and remaining optimistic about the future. The AllBright clubs are their hub away from home, something we know our members are craving after so long in lockdown."

For those not located near a physical club, AllBright launched AllBright Digital, a new online version of its club membership to help women connect digitally. The platform offers curated courses, practical advice, and tried-and-tested career hacks from some of the world’s most inspirational women.
