The Duchess and Duke of Cambridge arrived in Canada just a day ago for their royal tour, and the couple have already been busy with day two of their many public engagements. Upon the royal couple’s arrival just after 4pm in Vancouver (midnight over here in the UK), the Duchess went for an elegant outfit in a blue Jenny Packham dress teamed with a Locke and Co hat - finishing off the look with the Queen’s own sparkling maple leaf diamond.
Today’s quick red carpet slay comes from Emily Blunt, who looked like a magical nymph queen plucked from a fairytale at the Girl on the Train world premiere in London.
Last night, the British royal family - and some very lucky guests - donned their finest gear for an evening of schmoozing in the garden at Buckingham Palace, in celebrate of the Queen’s 90th birthday.
Fully embracing the nautical theme, Kate wore a stylish monochrome ensemble from Alexander McQueen complete with military button detailing and cute kick pleats. It’s not the first time the Duchess has showcased the nautical inspired McQueen outfit. The navy/black and white style outfit with gold button detailing made its debut as Kate met those affected by the Birmingham riots in 2011.
Fans of Gossip Girl will remember that Leighton Meester wore the same tulle sleeved gown on the set of Gossip Girl in the scene that saw her get engaged to her French Prince.
While we can’t imagine the Duchess of Cambridge donning any of these looks, its encouraging to see the brand known for its slightly dark and somewhat disturbing designs sticking to its trademark themes. The show, like so many big-name brands these days, steered clear of using models-of-the-minute and instead hosted an intimate affair - which the whole world was invited to watch online live, through the Alexander McQueen website.
The Duchess of Cambridge has once again proven the value of a great wardrobe staple, by nailing yet another recycled outfit. The Duchess was attending her first official engagement of the year at the 75th anniversary of the RAF Air cadets in London.
The Duchess was all smiles at the festive celebration. It’s no secret that the Duchess of Cambridge is something of an Alexander McQueen fan – she did wear a dress designer by the British luxe label on her wedding day, after all. Kate kept her newly shortened locks loose and parted in the centre.
