Tommy Hilfiger’s fashion shows are known for being extravagant, and the American designers autumn/winter 2020 show at London Fashion Week (LFW) was no exception. Hilfiger debuted not one, not two, but three collections at its latest catwalk spectacle at the Tate Modern, which returned to LFW for the first time since 2017.The luxury label’s special showcase included the fourth capsule collection with British Formula One racer Lewis Hamilton, a debut collaboration with Grammy award-winning singer H.E.R and the latest AW20 Tommy Now collection. The runway was filled with a slew of famous faces, with none other than supermodel Naomi Campbell opening the show in a neon shell suit. She was quickly followed by Georgia May Jagger, Winnie Harlow, Pixie Geldof, Jourdan Dunn and Candice Swanepoel. There were also a few surprise appearances as Jodie Kidd returned to the catwalk, joined by Erin O'Connor and Karen Elson. Meanwhile, Liam Gallagher’s son, Lennon Gallagher, and Kate Moss’s half-sister, Lottie Moss, also walked the runway.Celebrities were also out in force on the front row as Charlie XCX, Billy Porter, Alan Cummings and Pixie Lott watched the latest sartorial offering unfold. The brand is tapping into a new market
Tommy Hilfiger and Gigi Hadid’s third collection transported the entire TOMMYNOW spectacle to one of London’s hottest music venues, The Roundhouse. With backstage gossip emanating hours before the show, it was a clever way to build hype for the most anticipated display of the London Fashion Week SS18 season.Of course, it was expected that 22-year-old Gigi would walk in the show being one half of the design duo and all. But it was surprising to see her entire family walk down the rock-inspired catwalk with both younger sister Bella and 18-year-old brother Anwar making a high-profile appearance.Aside from the Hadids, the model line-up was nothing short of newsworthy with everyone from the Insta-famous Lucky Blue Smith and Jourdan Dunn to Hailey Baldwin, Cindy Crawford’s son, Presley Gerber, and an unexpected appearance from rock legend Mick Jagger’s daughters, Georgia May and Elizabeth. With Hilfiger describing the collection as “a celebration of the music, glamour and nostalgia that I love,” a record-shaped invite provided the perfect start to proceedings. The venue was packed to the brim with industry members, celebrities and over 1000 members of the public. Lewis Hamilton, Erin O’Connor, Daisy Lowe and footballer Neymar all took their spot on the front row alongside Lottie Moss, Lara Stone and the ‘world’s most beautiful girl’, Thylane Blondeau. So what about the actual clothes? Hilfiger and Hadid had capitalised on the merch madness that has currently overtaken the high street, causing merchandise from the likes of Justin Bieber and The Weeknd to land on the backs of thousands across the globe.Strutting their stuff down some dangerous-looking stairs and onto the winding circular catwalk, models donned tartan coats, plaid slip dresses, and grungy knits as they tried hard not to bump into each other.Leather jackets and beanies reading ‘Tommy Tour 2017’ and Gigi Hadid’ in Iron Maiden-style font will certainly be the pieces to sell out in the collection that ranges from £45 for a simple tank top to £660 for the aforementioned jacket.Other pieces included shimmering floral dresses, shirts and knitwear in the usual Hilfiger reds, whites and blues along with bang-on-trend puffer coats and typical rock and roll footwear. Even Hilfiger himself got in on the rock and roll spirit, appearing in a leather jacket with the Rolling Stones’ famed tongue logo peeking out from behind. The finale ended with the usual bow from the powerhouse pair followed by a display of acrobats that dropped from the ceiling of The Roundhouse. With a set to follow from US group The Chainsmokers, the crowd will be entertained for another hour and a half.Overall, the ‘Tommy Now Rock Circus’ collection was nothing new. But that didn’t matter. The aim is to sell out almost immediately and with this kind of spectacle, both Tommy Hilfiger and Gigi Hadid are set to line their pockets nicely.Follow us on Instagram and Facebook for non-stop inspiration delivered fresh to your feed, every day. Tommy Hilfiger’s first ever London Fashion Week show was always going to be epic. After all, this is the man who threw a two-day extravaganza on the New York Pier for his first collaboration with model Gigi Hadid, and a erected a carnival on Venice Beach for his second. The iconic American designer pulled out all the stops with his first show on British shores, choosing to take over the Roundhouse music venue in Camden, London. No expense was spared with a performance from the Chainsmokers, a model line-up that included Gigi, her sister Bella and brother Anwar and guest list that rivaled the Emmys red carpet. Well, almost.Naturally Gigi, Bella and Anwar’s mum, ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ star Yolanda Hadid, was in attendance. But she was by no means the only famous face to grace the red carpet.British models Lottie Moss, Lara Stone, Daisy Lowe, Jack Shepherd and Amber Le Bon attended, wearing an array of Hilfiger wares. Also sat on the FROW was Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s younger brother, and fellow model, Toby. Held in Camden’s infamous music venue, The Roundhouse, the show is set to be a rock and roll performance like nothing London Fashion Week has ever seen. The duo’s partnership may have only started two seasons ago, but the iconic American designer and his modern model counterpart have successfully built on the ‘see now, buy now’ strategy that so many other designers have failed at.Holding spectacles rather than a straightforward show, like the majority of designers, the first collection was set on a New York boardwalk with the second upping to Los Angeles’ Venice Beach. As we prepare for the highlight of the London Fashion Week SS18 season, revisit the past Tommy x Gigi shows and watch tonight’s #TOMMYNOW show live on Yahoo Style UK here.Follow us on Instagram and Facebook for non-stop inspiration delivered fresh to your feed, every day. Tommy Hilfiger is clearly smitten with Gigi Hadid. In fact, the designer is so full of love for the 21-year-old model that he thinks she could be the key to peace between the US and the Middle East. Gigi has just appeared on the cover of Vogue Arabia wearing a hijab that evidently has caused a little backlash.
Gigi Hadid’s second collaboration with giant American brand Tommy Hilfiger is already up for grabs after a packed-out show in Venice Beach. The meet and greet is part of the TOMMYxGIGI ‘Together Tour’ which will see the eldest Hadid travel to major cities across the globe.
The Tommy Hilfiger Spring/Summer 2017 Fashion Show lit up Venice Beach yesterday, with Gigi Hadid soaking up much of the limelight.
On Wednesday, Tommy Hilfiger hosted its second Tommy x Gigi show, “TommyLand,” set up like a modern-day music festival in Venice Beach, Calif.Eschewing a traditional runway show for the second season, Hilfiger opted for a “See now, buy now” collection. Model and branding powerhouse Gigi Hadid helped collaborate on the project, stamping her name on everything from bomber jackets to sneakers.Clothes were available for purchase immediately after the event online and in stores across the country on Thursday. Eager fans uninhibited by time zones flocked to the Tommy Hilfiger site before the show even began, creating a run on products that were soon sold out. Instant gratification really is instant. As for the show itself, Gigi opened in latex pants (Hilfiger himself describes the material as having a “wet look”), an ultra-cropped red, white, and black crop top, and a yellow raincoat slouching down around her arms.Close behind Gigi was her sister, Bella, wearing a sunshine yellow cropped polo tee and choker necklace.According to the brand, the collection is supposed to “celebrate 1960s love and liberation with a modern-day twist. Washed denim patchworks, sun-washed palettes and utilitarian details are inspired by the carefree beaches of Southern California.”Some items — like metallic-blue fringed miniskirts — feel fresher than other pieces, for example the denim slapped with cartoon-like patches that you could just as easily find at Forever 21.Hilfiger’s line is as true to its Americana roots (“America First”?) as ever before. Many of the pieces are unabashedly red, white, and blue, covered with stars and stripes, and bold primary colors. The collection is, by any measure, commercial and safe. The same cuts that have been available in most fast fashion retailers for more than a year — slim-fit, metallic leather biker jackets, slouchy sweatshirts, girlfriend jeans — were seen at the show. The coolest look is an all-denim trench. For Hilfiger, this isn’t a way to push fashion’s boundaries; instead, it’s a way to push the bottom line and test whether the see-buy-wear model can really be lucrative for brands. Within minutes, several of the items on the Tommy Hilfiger site were either sold out completely or available only in a few sizes. Shoppers want to go to TommyLand, it seems.Alexandra Mondalek is a writer for Yahoo Style and Beauty. Follow her on Twitter @amondalek. Seems like Tommy Hilfiger will not be joining Sophie Theallet’s boycott of the future first lady. “I think Melania is a very beautiful woman, and I think any designer should be proud to dress her,” Hilfiger told Women’s Wear Daily in response to the French fashion designer’s declaration that she wouldn’t dress or associate with Mrs. Trump. Hilfiger added, “Ivanka is equally as beautiful and smart, although she wears her own clothes.
The fashion industry has never been known for its inclusiveness. In fact, it wasn’t until recently that non-white, stick-thin models were even considered for jobs. But progress — slowly but surely — is coming: there were bionic arms, a gold prosthetic leg, and plus-size women at New York Fashion Week. But beyond that, the advances in diversity within the retail sector have come even farther, with Tommy Hilfiger leading the way. On Tuesday, the brand announced a collaboration of adaptive clothing to make items more accessible for people with disabilities.
When Bella and Gigi Hadid step out these days, it’s typically to strut down a runway or party with their gaggle of famous fashion friends. But with the end of Paris Fashion Week, the sisters traveled to New York to lend some familial support at the Global Lyme Alliance Gala on Thursday where their mother, Yolanda Foster, was being honored. Gigi, wearing a white strapless Tommy Hilfiger Collection gown (the designer himself was also in attendance — his daughter Ally suffers from the condition) walked her first red carpet with boyfriend Joe Jonas, while Bella stuck close to her 16-year-old brother Anwar. As the Realy Housewives of Beverly Hills star revealed in her speech, her aforementioned children were both diagnosed with Lyme in 2012. “Watching my babies struggle in silence in order to support me in my journey, struck the deepest core of hopelessness inside of me,” Foster revealed. “This award is for Anwar and Bella. This is my token and my promise to you that I will not allow you to live a life of pain and suffering. I will walk to the end of the earth to find a cure so that you can live a healthy life that you deserve.” Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest for nonstop inspiration delivered fresh to your feed, every day.
