The stars were out in force for the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) in New York City on Monday night. Rita Ora and Millie Bobby Brown flew the flag for Britain, with Rita wearing an almost entirely see-through mesh dress by Jean Paul Gaultier. The 27-year-old completed her VMAs look with Lorraine Schwartz jewels and a slicked-back hairdo. Meanwhile, 14-year-old Millie wore a black Rosie Assoulin look, with a crop top. Elsewhere, Jennifer Lopez glittered in a metallic custom Versace dress and Kylie Jenner looked unusually conservative in a belted Tom Ford tuxedo dress. Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick made a special appearance to promote their new film. Blake continued her recent trouser suit trend in a Ralph & Russo number while Anna opted for an embellished mini dress, also by the British design duo. Country star Carrie Underwood may have changed 12 times for this year’s Country Music Awards, but Rita Ora managed to squeeze in 13 different looks for the 2017 MTV Europe Music Awards. The 26-year-old scored the gig of presenting the star-studded event, held at Wembley Arena on Sunday night, and ensured she looked every inch the A-listers in a plethora of designer outfits. It wasn’t just her wardrobe that got a work out. The British pop star’s hair and make-up was switched up throughout the evening, proving just what a style chameleon the singer is. But it was Ora’s arrivals look – a bathrobe teamed with a hair towel, diamonds and stilettos – that got everyone talking. After all, it’s not every day you see a celebrity rocking Egyptian cotton on the red carpet. Not all of the show’s viewers were impressed with Ora’s numerous changes, though. While the star’s presenting skills impressed, fans took to Twitter to make it clear they were fed up of all the different get-ups she changed into. There were around 13 of them, after all. High fashion meets activewear. It’s becoming more visible on the runways and in the streets as it’s effortless and comfy but still cute. From pairing a jersey with high heels to matching a t-shirt dress with Nikes, styling activewear is limitless. We created some (reasonably priced) outfits for inspiration:
On November 2, 2015, Lady Gaga emerged from a New York City building wearing a black and white abstract print jumpsuit, which she paired with a matching leather-trimmed coat, and accessorized with a turban and monocle. This one outfit threw down the gauntlet for every other celebrity with advanced degrees in fashion to compete with one another for craziest one-piece ensemble of the week. Kendall and Kylie Jenner quickly accepted the challenge, each sister showing up to Kendall’s 20th birthday party in knockout numbers with their own eccentric twists. January Jones finished the competition out really strong by wearing a ballerina dress with a Big Bird hemline and sheer pants.
Rita Ora overcame bullies and body shaming to become comfortable and confident. The pop star, whose family fled from Albania to London when she was only a year old, is a household name in England. With her new Oh My Gloss! lipcolor collaboration with Rimmel London out this week, Rita and I talked beauty, confidence, and curves. Rita Ora loves to experiment with beauty looks. Rita Ora: Well hello, Bobbi Brown! I’d like to say that my name is Bobbi Brown.
Rita Ora covers Glamour UK’s most recent issue, which is a really big deal. To put that into non-fashion speak, landing a coveted September issue cover is basically like winning an Olympic gold medal.
