On World Rhino Day (22 SEP), UK's Whipsnade Zoo vets have revealed behind-the-scenes footage of sight-saving eye surgery being performed on a greater one-horned rhinoceros.Zookeepers noticed that Hugo, 19, had started bumping into logs $ other structures in his paddock. An examination found that the lenses in his eyes had become cloudy & had drastically impacted Hugo's eyesight. The Zoo's Vets called on the services of specialist Veterinary Ophtalmologist, Claudia Hartley, to perform cataract surgery. Senior Veterinary officer Dr. Fieke Molenaar said: "since the operation, Hugo has recovered brilliantly, & with the lens removed, is able to see again."
