Zoey Deschanel just had to prove to fans that she has a forehead

Now, I'm not saying you've thought about it a lot, but at some point in your life you may have given a cursory thought to Zoey Deschanel's forehead, and you wouldn't be the only one. Known for her big eyes and trademark fringe and glasses combo, fans have long joked (very lovingly) about the idea that hidden beneath her fringe Deschanel just might not have a forehead at all. Now she's getting in on the joke, taking to Twitter to speak the truth once and for all.

Ever since New Girl Deschanel's hair has been instantly recognisable. It's why people always used to get her mixed up with Katy Perry back in 2008: it was all in the fringe. And one joke that any longtime fringe-haver will face on an almost daily basis is the mystery of what lies beneath it - secrets? lies? money? The possibilities feel (but are not) endless.

Zoey Deschanel - perhaps one of the most famous celebrity fringe-havers going - is no stranger to the joke. She even went viral in 2013 when she turned up at The Met Gala with her fringe styled off her face. The internet truly went into shock.

Now, Deschanel has given us all another fringe-less moment to obsess over - taking to Twitter with a rare selfie showing her fringe swept back off her face.

She captioned the post, "For all the doubters... Proof that I have a forehead" and she followed up with a tweet referring to the 2013 Met Gala meme, saying "Reminded me of this..."
