Zoë Kravitz has opened up about why she cried after her father Lenny Kravitz delivered a speech at her wedding to her now-husband Karl Glusman last June.

The actors married at the famous musician’s house in Paris, with the 31-year-old wearing a Danielle Frankel gown at the wedding rehearsal the day before and then changing into an Alexander Wang-designed ballerina-esque dress for her big day.

Discussing her wedding with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show earlier this week, the Catwoman star said: ‘It was funny because I planned this wedding very well and the one thing I didn't really think about was speeches just because, I don't know, it totally slipped my mind.

‘The night before, I was like, I guess I should probably ask you guys to say something?’ she added, referring to her conversation with her parents hours before her big day.

The Big Little Lies actress continued, explaining that on the day of her wedding, her mother Lisa Bonet opened up a journal in which she’d written ‘beautiful’ words.

‘My dad said when he saw that, he was like, @sh*t”,’ she joked.

Speaking of her father’s speech, the ELLE cover star said: ‘It was beautiful.

‘He went up and gave one of the most beautiful speeches I've ever heard and I was in tears and it kind of made the night.’

The wedding was attended by several A-listers including Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley, Cara Delevingne and Ashley Benson.

On the star’s recent birthday, the ‘Are You Gonna Go My Way’ singer shared a photograph of his daughter with the caption: ‘Another year of dancing through this life with you my love. The best is yet to come.’

The actress recently opened up to ELLE about her marriage to Glusman.

‘I'm used to my family living in different cities, yet we stay close while all doing our own things,’ she explained.

‘Karl has his own career and needs to focus on that, but we've been together for a few years now, and we know where we are. If anything, the best part of being married is being able to have the odd fight and knowing neither of us is going to walk out the door. The commitment feels safe.’
