If, like us, you've been counting down the days, hours, minutes and seconds until Euphoria returns to screens then you'll know all too well that today. is. the. day. Yep, at 5am this morning (in the UK) the second season of the hit HBO series arrived – but, not before star of the show Zendaya shared a warning about what's to come.

Taking to Instagram Zendaya, who plays Rue on the series, shared a heartfelt message to Euphoria fans across the globe. "I know I've said this before, but I do want to reiterate to everyone that Euphoria is for mature audiences," she wrote. "This season, maybe even more so than the last, is deeply emotional and deals with subject matter that can be triggering and difficult to watch."

The 25-year-old continued: "Please only watch it if you feel comfortable. Take care of yourself and know that either way you are still loved and I can still feel your support. All my love, Daya."

Despite its teenage target audience, the series is known for exploring hard-hitting and complex themes, including drug addiction, depression, rape, revenge porn and violence. It's something which the cast have openly spoken about since the show first aired back in 2019, with HBO issuing a disclaimer ahead of each episode along with opening up a Crisis Text Line in the US.

But, the series has been praised by critics and fans alike who welcomed the arrival of season two. "This is going to be such a good season," said one fan on Twitter, with another adding "Me after finishing S2E1 of Euphoria like brooo next Sunday gotta hurry up." A third fan tweeted "THIS SEASON IS SO MESSY, I’M HERE FOR IT," while a fourth commented: "The fact that that was only THE FIRST EPISODE OF THE SEASON."
