Former One Direction star Zayn Malik paid a tribute to his late bandmate and friend Liam Payne at a gig in Leeds. A huge banner across the backdrop of the stage read: 'Liam Payne 1993 - 2024 Love you bro.'

The blue background was accompanied by a red love heart underneath before the Bradford-born singer took to the stage in Leeds on Saturday evening. It was the first night of his Stairway to the Sky Tour in Leeds.

Malik had postponed the US leg of his tour in October following the death of Liam. Zayn had reunited with his former bandmates - Nial Horan, Harry Styles and Doncaster's Louis Tomlinson - earlier this week at the Liam's funeral. He was seen to interact with Louis before they entered the church.

Earlier this month, he had pushed his Scotland gigs back to December due to 'unforeseen circumstances'. In a lengthy Instagram post following Liam's death, Zayn admitted that he had regrets over never thanking him for being by his side 'through some of the most difficult times in [his] life'.

Liam died in Buenos Aires in Argentina on October 16. He fell from his hotel room on the third floor at CasaSur Palermo Hotel.

Three people have been charged in connection with his death and local officers are not investigating Liam's death as suicide, it has been reported.
