Zara and Mike Tindall have announced the arrival of their third child, a baby boy. Lucas Philip Tindall was born on Sunday 21 March, weighing 8lbs 4oz.

The Queen's granddaughter gave birth at home after the couple were unable to make it to a local hospital. Talking on his rugby podcast, Mike Tindall said: "Arrived very quickly. Didn't make it to hospital. On the bathroom floor.

"So yeah, it was running to the gym, get a mat, get into the bathroom, get the mat on the floor, towels down, brace, brace, brace," he added.

Lucas is the Queen's 10th great-grandchild and is 22nd in line to the throne. The Tindalls already have two children, Mia, aged seven and Lena, aged two.

The rugby star will be doubly delighted with his newborn, after revealing that he was pining for a son on his podcast, The Good, The Bad & The Rugby.

"I'd like a boy this time. I’ve got two girls, I would like a boy," he joked. "I’ll love it whether a boy or a girl – but please be a boy."

Former Olympian Zara Tindall previously made headlines after choosing to openly speak about suffering two miscarriages in between having her first and second children. She and her husband have been married since 2011. The two tied the knot at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh and the ceremony was attended by senior members of the royal family, including the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, the Cambridges, Prince Harry and the bride's mother, Princess Anne.
