Love Island's Zara McDermott is being called out by fans after editing her latest Instagram picture to erase the background. Zara and on-off boyfriend Sam Thompson reportedly flew to the Maldives for New Year, despite Tier 4 restrictions banning non-essential travel being in place.

This week, Zara ~who recently got back with Sam after she admitted to cheating on him~ posted a picture of herself modelling a look from her new Missguided collaboration while encouraging her followers to enter a competition to win merch from the fashion brand.

In the snap shared with her 1.5 million followers, the reality star is posing in a gym with a big window in the background but she's blurred it out so you can't see what's beyond it. However, Missguided posted the exact same picture of the reality star and you can clearly make out the sunny, tropical background.

After spotting the glaring difference, one accused Zara of allegedly going against the restrictions, writing under the Missguided image, "Forgot to edit the picture? Unforgivable that someone would break Tier 4 travel rules and fly off to the Maldives."

While another said, "Looks quite tropical out of the window. Reminds me of central London 😂."

According to the Mail, Zara and Sam allegedly flew to the Maldives on 27 December to see in the New Year, but the pair continued to post pictures to Instagram that had been taken at home.

"Zara has been posting pre-recorded content - but she messed up," a source told the publication. "She posted screenshots of messages she received on her Instagram stories showing a time zone, which is hours ahead of the UK. As soon as followers started commenting, she quickly deleted the stories."

The Love Island star has been busy on Instagram in the last 24 hours, but she's yet to address the backlash. Watch this space.

Cosmopolitan UK has contacted a representative for Zara for comment.
