Stuck in a Denim Rut? Try One of These 13 It Skirts Instead

Maxine Eggenberger

If there's one thing that's going to make your wardrobe more in-tune with the new season, it's a new skirt. Of course, dresses also appease the need to forgo jeans, but there's something so undeniably chic about good skirting.

They're incredibly versatile, too. Be it clever layering techniques or simply changing the mood with an unexpected shoe choice (we recommend chunky trainers), a skirt can unlock hidden outfit potential. As such, we thought it would be fitting to collate all of the most coveted skirts 2019 has to offer (at this point in time) in one place.

Below, you'll find 11 beautiful skirts, all of which we've have been given the seal of approval by women we continually look to for style inspiration. From Zara's cult-status dress that's been reimagined in skirt form to the slinky slip that has sold out more times than we can count, keep scrolling to see and shop the It skirts set to define 2019.

Style Notes: Maxi skirts can certainly be divisive, but the entire Who What Wear UK office is in agreement. This & Other Stories style is the chicest one we've ever seen.

& Other Stories Gingham Maxi Skirt (£75)

Style Notes: It may be known for its Bonsai bucket bag, but Simon Miller also creates excellent clothing options. Case in point? This retro-inspired floral mini.

Simon Miller Short Floral Skirt (£271)

Style Notes: Olivia Rubin has become the definition of Instagram outfit bait, and even we can't resist the charm of the brand's rainbow-hued sequin skirts. Turns out that neither can a host of mega influencers.

Olivia Rubin Penelope Classic Rainbow Skirt (£280)

Style Notes: Fast becoming one of our favourite mid-priced brands, The Line by K's Grace crinkle-satin midi skirt makes for the perfect introductory purchase.

Style Notes: The trend for slip skirts continues, and this isn't the only daisy one that's trending right now. However, it is the most grown-up and affordable in its competitive set, and that's why we think it's catching on.

Warehouse Daisy Midi Slip (£39)

Style Notes: In 2018, getting your hands on Réalisation's Naomi skirt was akin to finding the Holy Grail. Now, it's restocked in every print. However, it's the heart- and leopard-print versions that we've currently got our eye on.

Style Notes: There are few who haven't nabbed a Topshop slip skirt, but what about the slightly more flirty printed wrap skirt? We love this less-clingy take. We'd style it like Mira here with a tee and sneaks.

Topshop Vienna Skirt (£29)

Style Notes: Ganni is accustomed to creating pieces with It-buy status, and this tie-dye skirt is no exception. It's already commanded a loyal legion of fans, which likely means it'll sell out any day now. Don't be left disappointed.

Ganni Shiloh Pastel Tie-Dye Cotton Denim Skirt (£147)

Style Notes: Understated but utterly gorgeous, plain slip skirts are enjoying as much air time as their printed counterparts. And it's this delightful pink Nanushka one that we're particularly enamoured with, especially now that it's on sale…

Nanushka Zarina Dusky Pink Satin Midi Skirt (£330)

Style Notes: Skirts of this calibre usually come with hefty price tags, so this frugal checked number certainly stopped us our tracks—especially now that it's on sale for just £9.

New Look Yellow Check Midi Skirt (£9)

Style Notes: We can always count on Gucci to elevate pieces from the fashion archives to cool new heights, and this skirt is no exception. A play on retro twin sets, this heritage houndstooth-check skirt has been given a modern-day overhaul thanks to its mini length. Make like Erika and wear it with chunky flats for a 2019 spin.

Gucci Houndstooth Miniskirt (£890)

Style Notes: If you love red and spots, look no further than River Island's button-through midi skirt. It's great for wearing with sandals, but we can imagine wearing this well into winter with ankle boots too.

River Island Plus Button-Through Skirt (£14)

Style Notes: Ruffle skirts were all the rage a couple of years ago, but this knee-high rework from Rouje feels so now—particularly in this daisy floral print.
