Yellowstone prequel releases trailer for Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren's 1923
Yellowstone prequel 1923 has released its first trailer for its latest spin-off series, which stars Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford.
1923 expands the Taylor Sheridan TV universe that started off with Yellowstone. 1923 serves as a prequel to Yellowstone and a sequel to fellow spin-off series 1883.
1923 will follow a specific generation of the Dutton family during a period of hardships that will include the Western Expansion, the Prohibition era, and the Great Depression.
Oscar-winner Mirren will star as Cara Dutton, the family matriarch. Ford will play Cara's husband Jacob, the patriarch of the Yellowstone ranch. The series will also star Game of Thrones alum Jerome Flynn, plus Jennifer Ehle, James Badge Dale, and Timothy Dalton.
The trailer features a whole bunch of tantalising drama that includes Dalton and Flynn's characters antagonising Mirren and Ford's. In particular, Dalton approaches Mirren on her ranch while Ford shoves a gun under Flynn's chin in an altercation.
The enticing trailer also promises a lot of action including explosions, horse chases, gun fights, and tense confrontations. It even boasts Mirren, who previously played Queen Elizabeth II, cocking a shotgun.
The series debuts on Paramount+ on December 18 and will be Ford's first major TV series. It marks a banner era for Ford, who was recently cast as General Thaddeus Ross in Thunderbolts and will also reprise his iconic role as Indiana Jones next year.
Indiana Jones 5 will feature a de-aged Ford in a flashback opening wherein Indiana battles Nazis in a castle in 1944. Ford said that the de-aging technology spooked him out.
"This is the first time I’ve seen it where I believe it. It’s a little spooky. I don’t think I even want to know how it works, but it works. Doesn’t make me want to be young, though. I’m glad to have earned my age," Ford said.
1923 will debut on Paramount+ in the US and Canada on December 18, with episodes available to stream the next day in the UK and Australia. Yellowstone airs on Paramount+.
