It wouldn't be Christmas in London without the unveiling of the Claridge's Christmas tree. Each year the famed luxury hotel enlists one of the fashion industry's biggest names to design its festive centrepiece, and this year's will come courtesy of Dior menswear's artistic director Kim Jones.

Of course, this won't be any ordinary Christmas tree. Named 'The Celestial Snow Globe', the design will pay tribute to Dior's savoir faire and craftsmanship, taking inspiration from the toile of the Dior couture ateliers - a delicate, translucent material used in the pre-production of clothing. The tree will mix holographic projections with a white toile, to produce "a poetic interplay of transparency".

The Christmas baubles, which will appear to float in orbit around the tree, will feature iconic Dior emblems. At the top, Kim Jones' beloved dog Cookie will hug Monsieur Christian Dior's lucky star.

"It is a great honour for me to design the Christmas Tree for Claridge’s and thus bring Dior, London and the Christmas spirit together in this iconic place," said Jones in a statement.

This is the 11th year that Claridge's has invited a leading creative to interpret its festive decorations in their own unique way. Previous brands and designers to have taken on the project include Diane von Furstenberg, Karl Lagerfeld, Christian Louboutin, Burberry and Dolce & Gabbana.

"Christmas has always been a truly special time of the year for us here at Claridge’s, and we are delighted, for the first time in many years, to welcome a homegrown designer to create our illustrious tree,” said Claridge's co-owner Paddy McKillen.

The Christmas tree by Kim Jones will be unveiled in the lobby of Claridge's on Wednesday 24th November.
