It's been a tough year of rearranging plans, with many birthdays, anniversaries and celebrations missed. Many of those who were planning to get married in 2020 also saw their plans cancelled or postponed, or rearranged to fit into lockdown requirements.

But finally, hopefully, with the government's route out of lockdown on the table, we might actually have a better idea of when weddings can go ahead in full swing. Obviously meeting these dates depends on the number of coronavirus cases, hospital admissions and deaths remaining manageable. So far, it's looking like this:

  • From 8 March, wedding ceremonies with 6 people are expected to open up, but no receptions will be allowed

  • From 12 April, weddings and wedding receptions with up to 15 people should be allowed to take place

  • From 17 May, weddings and wedding receptions with up to 30 people should be possible (while other indoor events such as concerts will be allowed a capacity of 1,000)

  • From 21 June (step four of the plan), the aim is to "remove all legal limits on social contact" at weddings (and other live events, such as night clubs and theatre performances)

If it's finally looking like you might be able to attend all those weddings that have been pushed back, getting yourself in gear and spoiling the bride and groom has never been so important. Whether that's a well-thought out wedding gift idea, or a kind wedding card full of well-wishes. Here are some suggestions of nice wedding messages to pop inside your card for the happy couple.
