The World's Fourth Oldest Gorilla Dies Aged 59

One of the world's oldest gorillas has died at the age of 59. Choomba was the fourth oldest gorilla in the world and mothered four generations of her species making her a great-great grandmother. The veteran great ape lived at Zoo Atlanta in the U.S. but sadly died on 13 January 2022. Gorillas are considered geriatric after the age of about 40 but Choomba was well cared for due to the zoo specialising in caring for elderly gorillas.
