Women regret having one-night stands - but men regret not having more of them

‘The fact that we find this gender difference in both Norway and the United States suggest there is more to the gender difference in sexual behavior than cultural norms and gender roles,’ said Joy Wyckoff from the University of Texas at Austin.

In earlier research, the scientists found that one in three women said they were happy about their casual sex experiences – compared to more than 50% of men.

‘We’re not saying that there aren’t men who regret casual sex. But it is far more common for women to regret saying yes. They are also less unequivocally happy about the experience.

‘Women regretted having a one-night stand the most, but they weren’t sorry about saying no at all.’
