This woman's response to a conservative's degrading question is going viral for all the right reasons
In the wake of women’s marches, rallies and the take-down of the tampon tax, the sisters really are doing it for themselves. And one SlutWalk attendee is no exception after going viral.
Samirah Raheem is a model living in Los Angeles who recently went viral after a video of her interview with Pastor Jesse Peterson was shared on twitter.

With more than 160,000 Retweets and 425,000 likes, Raheem’s response to Peterson’s inquiry as to why she considers herself a ‘slut’ has gone viral.
“Because I own my body. My body is not a political playground. It’s not a place for legislation. It’s mine, and it’s my future,” she answers.
Talkshow host and pastor, conservative Peterson is notorious for his dated opinions and views when it comes to the human rights. Last year, he attended the annual SlutWalk in Los Angeles, California, where he interviewed women by bluntly asking them if they were sluts.
Reclaiming the word, Raheem doesn’t back down when Peterson asks ‘why she’s dressed like a slut’, owning her body and her reaction to the confrontation. As for his intended-insult, according to Raheem, women are flipping the switch on what the word actually means.
“It doesn’t matter what a woman’s sexual history is,” she said. “A slut is a just word that you and your fellow penises made!”
If this tweet proves anything, it’s that people everywhere can’t get enough of Raheem’s message.
I'm just in awe of how she took the power away from the term "slut." A word which, for centuries, has been used by men in society to box women and insult them. I stan a Queen. She took that word and make it the equivalent of water. 👏🏿

people thinking SHE makes no sense when he is obviously barking nonsense to put her down for no reason I have to laugh

Hunny I think what she actually did is take Jesse’s insult, turned it against him, and denied him the opportunity to insult her mother. Jesse meant it as an insult, which is why she didn’t want it directed at her mother. That doesn’t mean she personally sees it as a bad thing.

The first ever SlutWalk was hosted in Toronto, Canada, in 2011 by a group of young activists. Gaining exposure when Model Amber Rose joined the movement, the aim of the SlutWalk is to provide a safe space that exposes victim blaming, sexual violence and gender inequality.
While the video was filmed at the 2017 SlutWalk in October, it recently surfaced thanks to Twitter user @CrisLuvsErrBody.
